The knowledge of God abounds unto the grace and edification of its hearers. To experience the knowledge of God is to know grace. For in His grace, God sees and anticipates our needs. He is our Father who knows His child’s dirty diaper needs changed before they even know what a mess they are in. Herein, we grasp a hold of God’s promise that He will provide for our needs (Phil 4:19). A child trusts their Father to care for everything they care about and we are likewise called to childlike faith (Matt 18:3).

Ephesians 4:4-8 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

The knowledge of God surpasses our own knowledge. Therefore, our understanding of our situations and opportunities can (and should) be shifted by the peace of knowing that God knows more than we do. God gives us exactly what we need when we need it (Matt 7:9-11). We can trust then, that if we are lacking anything, it is because that thing is not intended for us. God has molded us to be vessels like a potter with his clay (Jer 18:1-6). Our choice of yielding to His desires can make us a vessel of honor, or a vessel of dishonor (Rom 9:21, Rom 9:18-23, 2 Tim 2:20-21). To yield is to accept God’s way as right above your own, to choose his purpose as yours, and to set aside all that you have chosen for yourself. He knows our frame (Ps 103:14) and he makes no mistakes. (James 1:16-17)

Yielding Prayer

Father in heaven, I accept the truth of your unending knowledge about who I am and why you created me. I accept your purpose which you intended for me and I lay aside every weight which has kept me from your commission on my life (Heb 12:1). I lay aside my dreams, my goals, my aspirations, my assumptions about how my life would go, and I submit to your plans for me. Father, I invite you to illuminate those ways to serve you which fulfill and edify me and reveal those ways I serve that encumber me and weigh me down so that I might walk better in the identity you have chosen for me. I accept your gifts of love and grace today and put aside my want for things that are not good for me. I choose today to rest in your knowledge and trust that your grace is always sufficient.
