God’s grace is readily available to His children. It is like the fruit of a tree, to receive it, one must simply reach out and take hold of it. God gives us His grace because he knows our frame, (Psalm 103:14) He knows that we need His grace, so he pours it out on us.

Certainly, it is not God’s will that we should sin. (1 John 2:1) But even Jesus’ eternal position as our advocate displays God’s willingness to show us grace. He sent His son out of grace and has now ordained us as His sons because of that same grace.

Take some time now to read and meditate on 1 John 3.

There are some who, like Jude wrote about in verse three, turn the grace of God into lasciviousness. This wanton lifestyle in pursuit of sensuality and immorality flippantly discounts God’s grace into a license for sin: “I can because he did.” Our passage from 1 John clearly promotes a different kind of life, “I don’t because he did.”

Yielding Prayer

Father, I repent for any time I have turned your grace into license. I reject the lie that I can live however I want, and choose to embrace your way. I yield to you inviting your Holy Spirit to guide me and direct me as I follow you (Rom 8:14).
